Enjoyed your comments! But I have to say, as a septuagenarian, I'm not much of a fan of the 80's. Disco fever and big hair will never be as fond a memory for me as psychedelic rock, Motown, and flower children. And my hero, Roberto Clemente, never made it into that decade.
Fair enough. It was an era that was completely over the top by some strange design. Maybe some historian can explain the origin of 80s culture. But since Hall & Oates were on top of the world then, it gets my stamp of big approval! :) PS I just ordered a Clemente hat yesterday.
Doug, thanks for bringing us back to those vivid uniform colors of the 80’s. I suppose attracting the eye of the fan was the point. Thinking about those colorful 80’s unis also reminds me of This Week in Baseball with Mel Allen….
A Pirate throwing to an Expo to get an Angel at the plate. Heavenly hat tips to Dave Parker and Gary Carter. Well done.
Totally totally agree.
Well told Doug! The two separate leagues may not last the next round of MLB expansion and that would be sad IMO.
Re photo caption:
"Craig Biggio of the Houston Astros and Big Roberts of the Cincinnati Reds pose before the 1992 MLB All-Star Game."
It's BIP Roberts, not "Big."
Thx Avie. Adjusted it pretty quickly. That is how it appeared in original caption so we fixed it later.
Well said Doug!

I just got a Clemente fridge magnet!
Here is the hat!
Always entertaining - thanks Doug!

Hi Tim!! One of the great honors of mine was to host This Week in Baseball when they had player-hosting for a while. So incredible!
