I have had the pleasure of working with the brilliant Joon Lee at ESPN. His work on Substack has become my regular elixir of refreshing insight. Novel, relevant and maybe most importantly, centered on humanity. It is a call to action for sports that grants us the self-awareness we can employ to understand more about our world, but also so we remember why we fell in love with sports in the first place. Joon Lee is a person I know can change the world so I suggest you hitch a ride. So so good.
The Long Game fits the author Molly Knight who lives up to her name by being a guardian of truth and straight talk through baseball and beyond. It is fearless, poetic, and full of great reads with excellent engagement with her audience. 5 stars.
I have long admired Timothy Snyder's seemingly innate ability to balance a trifecta of genius, facts, and calm. He navigates muddy and complex issues with foresight and hindsight so that we can see where we are going today with clarity. Huge fan of his work.
