Great article, Doug. I am a long time Ranger fan, but I have lived in St. Louis since 1982. I remember you from your days with the Cubs and Phillies, but I did not realize you played for the Rangers too!

Yes. That is a griddable (if that is not a word, it should be!) fact of my MLB journey. :) It was only a half of a season but a good time.

Denny McLain (Detroit) is a terrific grid guy. Who remembers he was also on the Braves and A’s as well as the big bonus - the Senators, which also means the Rangers!

In addition Denny has two 7+ WAR seasons, an MVP and CY.

Thank you Doug. I created b-r and run immaculate grid now and we met briefly ata SABR analytics meeting.

We’ve been blown away by the impact of the grid on people. We’ve gotten dozens of stories of parents connecting with their kids. Brothers who hate each other’s politics sharing their grids each morning and players like yourself who have a wide variety of feelings about the game. It’s been completely unexpected and remarkable.

Somehow the game reveals something about the deeper meaning of the game.

Hi Sean! Great to hear from you and yes, I remember when we met at that conference. It has no doubt captured the imagination of so many baseball fans and I do not hesitate to say that it is a little different with baseball in particular and what time tends to mean to fans. I can literally teleport in the grid, instantly. I can recall friends and teammates. I can become 12 again, I can be anywhere. It also makes me think - how much and for how long is up to me. And like baseball, it has so much utility. You can have team games or races or anything you want to do. If someone set out to make a baseball puzzle that is also baseball inside of baseball. They accomplished it. So good. Thanks for reaching out and keep in touch!!!

I play the grid every day and compare my score to friends. I want you to know two things. One i use you when i can..and am aware of the 200 hit season! I also use steve montgomery!
